Ernest Holmes, Author of Science of Mind and
Founder United Church of Religious Science
Thank you for considering a financial contribution to Guidance Church, a United Centers for Spiritual Living congregation (formerly known as the United Church of Religious Science). Your gift means a great deal to us because it supports our Living Vision and Mission. We see a world of infinite possibility and the absolute highest good for everyone. We endeavor to create that world by serving our spiritual family and the larger community through our ministerial work and our Service Organizations.
As a registered non-profit with the state of California, Guidance Church puts all gifts and tithes to work in support of pastoral care, community outreach, as well as educational programs, spiritual activities and special events all of which are open to the public. Our annual financial statement is prepared by our Treasurer, James Brown, approved by the Board of Trustess and disclosed during our Annual Members Meeting.
To make a financial donation, decide if you want to make a 100% gift to the General Fund or Itemize Your Support by donating specific amounts to select ministries listed below. Fund Raising with Treasure Box
What is Treasure Box? The simplest answer is a box of food that you can donate to a family or purchase for yourself. Each Treasure Box contains between 21-25 pounds of high quality, frozen foods, including chicken, pork, beef, or seafood, as well as vegetables, fruit, a side dish and a dessert. One Treasure Box is enough food to nutritiously feed a family of four lunch and dinner for almost a week or a senior citizen for nearly a month. The food would cost from $65-100 at the grocery store, but you can buy one for $30.
Three Great Boxes to Choose from:
- The Treasure Box − 21-25 pounds of high quality, frozen foods including chicken, pork, beef or seafood, in addition to vegetables, fruit, a side dish and a dessert. A family of four can eat these delicious foods for nearly a week, while an individual dine on these fares for nearly a month.
- The Hearty Meat Protein Box − 10-12 pounds of protein and a great supplement to the Treasure Box.
- The Quick & Healthy Meal Box − 10 individually packaged 3 compartment meals providing 1/3 of the daily nutritional requirements and includes the nutritional equivalent of 3 oz of meat/protein and either two ½ cup vegetable servings or one vegetable and one fruit serving. Low in fat, cholesterol and sodium, and ready to eat in minutes.
Where Does the Fundraising Come In? Every time you purchase a Treasure Box for $30, Guidance Church receives 75 cents.
Ready to Place an Order? Visit Treasure Box today and be sure to designate Guidance Church as your charitable partner.

Create a Legacy or Bequest
Did you know that the average bequest in the United States is about $23,000? A lot of times when people hear the word “bequest” they think that they’re not a millionaire and therefore not wealthy enough to make one. The truth is that millions of middle class Americans leave bequests to the organizations they love every year.
So, let’s back up just a moment so that we’re clear. What is a bequest? It’s simply a gift of property by will. This means that you are able to make a bequest, when you no longer need the funds: after you’ve made your transition. And a valid will is a legally enforceable document which names the people and/or organizations you nominate to care for family members and to receive your assets when you die.
Please contact your estate planner or lawyer about any financial implication in your state or for advice about preparing your will. Some trust companies will not charge for preparing your will if they are appointed the executor of your estate.
Your bequest could take the form of:
- A specific sum of cash, or a percentage of overall value of your estate
- A gift of real estate
- An investment (stocks, bonds, shares, artworks etc.)
- A residual gift (i.e. the balance of your estate after all other provisions have been met)
- A combination of any of the above
If want to prepare a simple bequest, we’ve provided some sample language for you below.
Sample Simple Bequest
"I, [First Name] [Last Name], being of sound mind and body, bequeath to Guidance Church located at 7225 Crenshaw, Los Angeles, California 90043, Charitable ID 95-2583110, the sum of [write out the amount of dollar or the specific form of your bequest] ($xx,xxx.xx) free of all taxes for the purposes of supporting its spiritual and ministerial activities. The receipt of the Treasurer of the Church shall be sufficient discharge for the Executor."
Be sure to sign and date the document in addition to having someone witness it. If you are married, be sure that your spouse signs the bequest as well. Then mail the bequest to Guidance Church to the attention of the Treasurer. We will verify that we’ve received. Keep us abreast of any address changes over time. We thank you in advance for preparing for the ongoing financial wellbeing of your church.
Volunteer Your Time and Talent
"Do small things with great love."
Mother Theresa
"When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion."
Ethiopian Proverb
Most of us know the African proverb, "It takes a village to raise a child." So how many of us does it take to raise the consciousness of a community, a city, a state…the planet? Well, we can do it, one person at a time beginning with you. In our Living Vision, we state that "We see a world where everyone lives in love, joy, freedom, peace, prosperity and harmony." And we affirm in our Mission Statement that "we realize our divinity through spiritual practice." In this spirit we invite you to serve and be served by volunteering your time and talent. We’ve provided a list of Guidance Service organizations below and also encourage you to become active supporting the work of our ministries. Thank you for making the gift of service today.
